Note: In this module, students will learn to write and manage essential database objects in SQL Server 2017. They‘ll explore how to create stored procedures and different types of user-defined functions, including scalar and table-valued functions. Additionally, students will also gain hands-on experience with DML triggers for enforcing data integrity and business rules, and learn to use cursors for row-by-row data manipulation. This module will equip students with the skills to build more complex and efficient database logic.
Note: In this module, students will be introduced to SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), a powerful tool for building high-performance data integration solutions. They will learn how to create and manage SSIS packages and explore the key components for data processing. Students will become familiar with the Data Flow Task, which is used to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data, as well as various transformations that modify data within the flow. They will also learn how to implement Control Flow to define the workflow of an SSIS package; ensuring tasks are executed in a specific order based on success, failure, or completion.
Note: In this module, students will dive into SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and learn how to create, manage, and deliver professional reports. They'll start with an introduction to SSRS and its capabilities, then move on to the practical steps of creating reports from scratch. Students will also learn to use parameters to create dynamic, interactive reports and enhance their reports with effective data visualisation techniques. Students will learn the essential skills for turning raw data into clear, informative reports.
Note: In this module, students will apply all their skills to a comprehensive real-world project. They will begin by analysing a business problem and designing an effective database solution. The module then focuses on the practical steps of data implementation, writing and optimising complex Transact-SQL (T-SQL) queries, and using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to create insightful reports.
